How to read a minor arcana tarot reading result: 7 steps, top to bottom

Where do you start with a minor arcana tarot reading result? Question, five cards, the love chart, Core Message, each card, in order, plus how the scores and sentences are decided, checked in SCHROE's code.

SCHROE Editors

Wednesday, 11:30 p.m. Harin has just finished a night shift. She sets a cup of instant noodles on the table outside the convenience store near her place and opens her phone. For three weeks, messages with someone have been thinning out. She types "How have you been?" into the chat, deletes it, types it again, and finally switches to a tarot screen instead. She picks Love Reading and writes her question: "Should I be the one to reach out first, now that they've gone quiet?"

After she picks five cards, the result screen runs long: a chart, a core message, notes under every card, a few collapsed panels. Harin scrolls down twice, scrolls back up, and mutters, "So where am I supposed to start?"

Harin is a fictional person made up for this article. But the order of the screen she sees, every label on it, and every number in the chart are taken or computed directly from the code and text files the schroe.kr minor arcana result screen actually uses (October 2026 deploy). This article does not re-explain what each card means; the suit guides already cover that. Instead, it follows one reading by one person, step by step, to show the order in which to read a minor arcana tarot reading result, top to bottom.

Before you read: how were these cards drawn?

How you read a result depends on how the cards were drawn. A card fixed once per day reads like "today's answer." A card reshuffled every time reads like "one scene for this question, right now." Here is how the Love Reading draws, as checked in SCHROE's code.

| What to check | Love Reading (minor) | What it means for reading | |---|---|---| | Deck | The 56 minor cards only (no majors) | Results read toward everyday scenes | | Number of cards | 5, each with a fixed position | The same card asks a different question in a different position | | Shuffle | A fresh random shuffle every time you start | Do it again and you get other cards. Not fixed for the day | | Reversed | Each card has a 50/50 chance of upright or reversed | A reversed card is nothing rare | | Repeats | The same card never appears twice in one reading | All five cards are different | | Lean toward Cups | When the deck is built, Cups are pushed toward the front | But the spread you pick from is reshuffled, so the first cards laid out carry none of that lean |

That last row needs a word. The code has a step that, for a love reading, places Cups toward the front of the deck about 70% of the time. But when it builds the pile you actually tap (20 cards on mobile, 25 on PC), it shuffles the deck evenly again. Only when a gap is refilled after you take a card does the original order come back in. So it's hard to say "Cups show up a lot because it's a love reading." The ๐ŸŽฒ View random result button works the same way: it shuffles the remaining cards evenly and takes five.

In short, this result is one scene laid out once, for this question, right now. With that in mind, let's read in order.

Step 1. Your Question: re-read the question before the answer

When the card reveal finishes, the top of the screen shows Your Question. Harin's reads, in quotation marks, "Should I be the one to reach out first, now that they've gone quiet?" Questions are saved up to 50 characters.

Why stop here? Every line below is a basic reading built from the cards alone, without knowing your question. You are the one holding the question, so you are the one who connects the lines to it. Rereading hers, Harin noticed something: what she really wanted to know was less "Should I reach out?" and more "Would reaching out make me less anxious?" Sharpening the question once gives you a yardstick for everything below.

Step 2. The five cards: why the middle one shows first

Under the question, your cards appear in a strip you swipe through. The five positions of the Love Reading, in order, are My Heart โ†’ Their Visible Cues โ†’ Relationship Scene โ†’ Obstacle โ†’ Path Ahead. Harin drew these:

| Position | Harin's card | Orientation | |---|---|---| | My Heart | Page of Cups | Upright | | Their Visible Cues | 5 of Swords | Reversed | | Relationship Scene | 2 of Cups | Upright | | Obstacle | 4 of Pentacles | Reversed | | Path Ahead | Ace of Cups | Upright |

One detail matters. The strip doesn't open on the first card; it opens on the third, Relationship Scene. In the code, theme readings such as Love and Money set the starting position to the third slot. Relationship Scene sits in the middle, linking the two positions before it (My Heart, Their Visible Cues) with the two after it (Obstacle, Path Ahead), so starting there makes it easy to swipe left and right and compare.

So here's the suggested order: look at Relationship Scene first, swipe left for the two hearts, then swipe right for the obstacle and the path. If you lock onto card 1 from the start, the story tends to end at "how I feel."

Step 3. Love Symbolic Pattern Analysis: five indicators measured against each other

When the Basic Reading ยท Free box opens under the cards, the first thing in it is the Love Symbolic Pattern Analysis chart. It has five indicators: Passion, Affection, Trust, Communication and Stability. Harin's screen showed Affection 92%, Trust 59%, Communication 37%, Passion 28% and Stability 20%, with a one-line summary: "In this spread, 'Affection' runs strongest while 'Stability' stays relatively faint."

Stability at 20% made Harin's stomach drop. But knowing how the number is made changes how you read it. Here are Harin's five cards run through the calculation, based on SCHROE's code.

  • Base score by rank. Each card number has a set score: Ace 95, 2 is 45, 4 is 65, 5 is 52, Page 60, and so on.
  • Reversed means ร— 0.55. The 5 of Swords (52) becomes 28.6; the 4 of Pentacles (65) becomes about 35.8.
  • Multiply by suit weight, average across the five cards. Each indicator responds to different suits. Affection gives Cups ร—3, Stability gives Pentacles ร—3, Communication gives Swords ร—2.8, Passion gives Wands ร—3.
  • Re-spread the five against each other. Finally the lowest of the five values becomes the floor, the highest becomes the ceiling, and the gap between is stretched again. As a result, the lowest indicator always lands at 20% and the highest at 92%.

Why does this matter? Because of step 4, the chart does not mean "a relationship that scores 20 on stability." It shows which side runs relatively strong or faint within these five cards. Whatever you draw, one indicator ends up at 20% and one near 92%. Harin's Stability hit the floor because she had only one Pentacles card, and it was reversed. The scores are values SCHROE's code computes from the card mix; they are not evidence that a relationship or anyone's luck is really that way.

What to take from the chart is less the size of the numbers and more the names of the strongest and faintest indicators. Harin wrote: "A scene where the feeling (affection) runs deep, but the everyday rhythm holding us up (stability) comes out faint."

Step 4. Core Message: the suit count picks the sentence

Right under the chart is Core Message. This text isn't stitched together from the card meanings. It's chosen from a fixed set of sentences by counting how many of the five cards belong to each suit.

| Suit mix of the five cards | What Core Message says | |---|---| | One suit has 3 or more | A line that this suit is strongly present + that suit's note + a line about its element's life areas | | No suit has 3, and 3 or more suits appear | A line that several suits are evenly spread | | Anything else | A line that the cards show different areas together | | The second most common suit has 2 or more | One extra "secondary" line is added |

Harin had three Cups, so she fell in the first row. Her screen began, "Cups (Water) symbolic pattern is strongly present with 3 out of 5 cards," followed by a note to start with the real exchange (reply tone, promises, timing) and write down what was actually said before deciding what it means. Swords and Pentacles had one card each, so no secondary line was added.

Read the three small chips under the text, too. Harin's said Cups leads: 3, Reversed: 2 and Court cards: 1. The chips sum up the evidence for the Core Message in numbers. How many cards are reversed, and how many are court cards (Page, Knight, Queen, King), never appears in the sentence itself, only in the chips, so check them here.

Step 5. Each Card in Your Draw: read the position name first

Each Card in Your Draw is open from the start. Each card begins with a position chip (My Heart, Obstacle and so on), then the card name, then Upright or Reversed, then a description and keywords.

That order is itself the method. Start from the card name and it's easy to slide into generalities: "the 5 of Swords is usually about this." Start from the position and the question changes. Harin reread hers like this:

  • Instead of "What does the 5 of Swords reversed mean?" โ†’ "A card of words and conflict came up reversed in Their Visible Cues. Of the reactions I've seen from them, which words did I actually confirm?"
  • Instead of "What does the 4 of Pentacles reversed mean?" โ†’ "A card of everyday rhythm came up in Obstacle. Was it a packed schedule, more than my feelings, that kept me from reaching out?"

If you're curious what a card means, look it up on the card pages. On the result screen, the point is to go position โ†’ card โ†’ orientation and pin each one to a scene in your own situation, one line at a time.

Step 6. Symbolic Pattern Distribution and Card Flow: collapsed panels for checking

Symbolic Pattern Distribution starts collapsed. Open it and you see a bar and a count for each suit (for Harin: Cups 60%, Swords 20%, Pentacles 20%), and under it, Card Flow links the five positions with arrows. This panel adds no new reading. It redraws the chips from Step 4 and the position order from Step 2 as a picture. Open it when you wonder, "Why did I get this Core Message?"

Step 7. Suit Advice: start with the most frequent suit, and stop at one

The last panel, Suit Advice, is also collapsed. Open it and it lists advice by suit, most frequent first, such as "Cups's advice" and "Swords's advice." Harin read only the top one, the Cups advice. Reading every piece of advice just adds to-dos, while the advice for the most frequent suit ties the Step 3 chart and the Step 4 message together in one direction.

Below it, the AI in-depth reading is a paid feature and isn't covered here. At the very bottom is the closing line: "Take the cards' thematic advice as guidance, and adapt it flexibly to your situation."

A table for reading any result

When you open a minor arcana reading result, follow this table from the top.

| Step | Screen label | What decides it | Question to ask | |---|---|---|---| | 1 | Your Question | The sentence you wrote (50 characters) | Is this really what I want to know? | | 2 | The five cards | 5 random cards, 5 positions | Did I start at Relationship Scene and compare both sides? | | 3 | Love Symbolic Pattern Analysis | Rank score, reversal, suit weight; five indicators compared | Which indicator is strongest, and which is faintest? | | 4 | Core Message | Suit counts (does any suit have 3 or more?) | What do the chips say about top suit, reversed and court cards? | | 5 | Each Card in Your Draw | Position + card + orientation | Which scene in my situation is this position? | | 6 | Symbolic Pattern Distribution ยท Card Flow | The same suit counts as Step 4 | Does the evidence for Step 4 hold up? | | 7 | Suit Advice | Suits in order of count | With the top advice alone, what's one thing to do today? |

Back at the table outside the store

By the time the noodles have gone cold, Harin's notes app holds three lines: "A scene where affection runs deep and stability comes out faint." "For their reactions, write down only what they actually said, not guesses." "Check whether the real reason I held off was my schedule." The cards didn't tell her "reach out" or "don't." But by reading the result screen in order, Harin turned her question from "Should I reach out first?" into "What's the one sentence I want to send right now?"

Shuffle again and five different cards come up. So rather than taking one result as the answer, the best use of this screen is as an order for sharpening the question and splitting the situation into scenes.

If you want to try it yourself, the minor arcana tarot reading result screen opens once you've picked all your cards. To start with a Love Reading, choose a theme on the tarot home page.

Tarot results are meant as light reference. Please don't base important decisions on them. The screen order, labels and score calculation in this article were checked in the schroe.kr code (MinorResultLayout.jsx, MinorOverallReadings.jsx, minorChartAnalyzer.js, chartScoring.js, useTarotStore.js) and text files (October 2026 deploy). The chart scores are calculated by SCHROE's code and do not measure any real relationship or luck. Harin and her cards are an illustrative example; no schroe.kr user results were used.
