Leo and Pisces compatibility at 42: chemistry 60, long-term 32, and the gap between

Leo and Pisces compatibility is 42, joint 75th of 78 pairs. We recalculate from the code why the 28-point gap between chemistry 60 and long-term 32 is the widest of the ten element combinations.

At eleven on Saturday night, the last guest closed the front door and Doyun dropped onto the sofa. It was the housewarming he had thrown for six friends from university. He had done all of it himself, from the shopping to two trays of lasagna, a salad and a dessert tart, and he had carried the conversation at the table all evening. His friends took photos and asked when he had learned to cook like this.

Doyun is a Leo. He leaned back and looked at Seoa. "So, how was tonight?"

Seoa is a Pisces. She stopped gathering empty glasses and thought for a moment. Then she said, "Jihu, though. When the promotion thing came up, he looked a bit off. Do you think something's going on at his work?"

Doyun didn't answer. When Seoa turned around, he was looking at his phone. "Yeah, could be." His voice was half a tone lower than usual.

It isn't clear who got this wrong. What Doyun wanted to hear was "You did great tonight." A whole day's work had just ended, and he needed one sentence from the person who had seen it closest. Seoa had spent the evening reading the table: who laughed and who didn't, whose glass was empty. To her, "How was tonight?" sounded like a question about that atmosphere. Both had spent the same evening in good faith, each guarding something different.

On SCHROE (schroe.kr), the compatibility of Leo and Pisces comes out at 42. This article reads that 42 a little differently. Instead of one number, look at how far apart the four scores behind it sit, and you can see where this pair is drawn together and where it collides.

How the 42 is built

We recalculated Leo x Pisces directly from src/data/zodiacCompatibilityScores.js in deploy 6760abe0.

| Item | Source lines | Calculation | Value | |---|---|---|---| | Pair score | L137 (Leo row), L242 (Pisces row) | value in the table | 42 | | Fire-water element overall | L51 | value in the table | 42 | | Base overall | L285 | (42 + 42) / 2 = 42.0 | 42 | | Chemistry | L51, L288 | fire-water element value as is | 60 | | Conversation | L51, L291, L261 softenScore | 42 x 0.45 + 35 x 0.55 = 38.15 → 62 + (38.15 − 62) x 0.72 = 44.83 | 45 | | Long-term | L51, L292 | fire-water element value as is | 32 | | Rank among 78 pairs | | 74 pairs score above 42 | joint 75th (2 pairs tied) |

Two things need saying honestly.

First, there is almost no Leo-and-Pisces-specific share visible in this 42. The pair score set between the two signs (L137, L242) is 42, and the fire-water element score (L51) is also 42. Their average is 42.0, with nothing to round. Other fire-water pairs move between 40 (Cancer x Sagittarius) and 50 (Cancer x Leo, Aries x Pisces and others) depending on their pair score, but Leo x Pisces does not move a single point from the element value. So the numbers alone cannot tell whether this 42 comes from "being Leo and Pisces" or from "being fire and water." The code gives no reason for setting the pair score at 42.

Second, the conversation score of 45 on screen has been pushed up from its underlying value. The fire-water element conversation value is 35; mixed with the base overall it becomes 38.15. softenScore (L261) then pulls that 28% of the way toward the midpoint of 62, giving 44.83, rounded to 45. On screen, conversation looks 3 points above the base overall, but inside the calculation it is one of this pair's weakest ingredients.

Chemistry 60, long-term 32: the widest gap of the ten element combinations

Let's layer one more set of numbers. The same file has ten element combinations (L43-54). Measure the gap between chemistry and long-term for each.

Fire-water has chemistry 60 and long-term 32, a gap of 28 points, the largest of the ten. Fire-fire is 82 and 58, a gap of 24; fire-air 80 and 62, 18; air-air 72 and 55, 17. Earth-earth runs the other way, with chemistry 60 and long-term 82, so long-term is 22 points higher.

Fire-water chemistry of 60 is not high in itself; it is joint sixth of ten, with earth-earth. But the same combination's long-term of 32 is the lowest of the ten, and its element conversation value of 35 is also the lowest. So what this pair's numbers say is not "no attraction" but "unusually little staying power for the attraction there is."

Back to the housewarming night

Hold that gap against Doyun and Seoa's Saturday and it fits rather well.

Start with the attraction. Seoa was first drawn to Doyun two years ago, at a similar gathering. When the room went awkward among people who had just met, Doyun stood up first, suggested a game, and pulled in even the person in the corner. Seoa watched him for a long time. Reading the air between people was what she always did; Doyun was someone who changed it. Doyun found Seoa just as curious. She was the first person who, after a party, said, "That guy tonight seemed a bit lonely, didn't he?" Each had a sense the other lacked, and that pulled them together. This is where chemistry 60 points.

The long-term side is in Saturday night. Doyun's "How was tonight?" was a request shaped like a question. Seoa took it as a question. And it wasn't the only time. The day he finished a big presentation, the day he shared news of his promotion, Seoa's first words were about how someone else in the room was feeling. For her, that wasn't ignoring Doyun; it was looking after the space he had made, together. But for Doyun, each repetition added to a record that said, "What I do just passes as a given." Once is minor. Long-term 32 gets worn down where the same scene piles up.

That night they did talk. Doyun put his phone down. "Honestly, I wanted some praise tonight. The lasagna came out really well." Seoa looked surprised, then laughed. "I know it did. I saw Jihu go back for seconds. I just didn't know I had to say it." Then she added, "I thought you already knew. You did so well."

Seoa's praise had been there all evening. It was praise from someone who had noticed who went back for seconds. It just never came out in words Doyun could hear. What he wanted wasn't a big speech but a moment of being confirmed out loud, and Seoa had never had the information that he needed that moment.

Splitting where they fit from where they collide

Layer the numbers and the scene, and this pair's fit and friction separate quite clearly.

They fit in how each sees what the other misses. The Leo side changes the air; the Pisces side reads it. Early on, that difference looks like charm, and chemistry 60 is that charm left behind as a number.

They collide over how confirmation works. One person is done only once it's confirmed out loud; the other feels it's done the moment it's noticed. With a conversation ingredient of 35 (the element value), the lowest of the ten combinations, you can read that this kind of translation does not happen on its own.

So what helps this pair is less an effort to change temperament and more an agreed order for confirming things. Doyun and Seoa made one small rule after that. On a day either of them finishes something big, the other first names "the best thing you did today" before bringing up anyone else's mood. For Seoa, that means saying out loud what she has already seen; for Doyun, it means getting the words he was waiting for. Jihu could wait until after. In fact, Jihu opened up about thinking of changing jobs the next week. What Seoa saw that night was right.

What to keep in mind when you read the 42

  • Leo x Pisces at 42 is exactly where the pair score of 42 and the fire-water element score of 42 overlap. Whether Leo and Pisces have a share of their own cannot be told from the code alone.
  • This pair's defining feature is less the low total and more the 28-point gap between chemistry 60 and long-term 32, the widest of the ten element combinations.
  • The 45 for conversation on screen was 38.15 inside the calculation, pushed up. Rather than expecting conversation to flow on its own, it helps to set an order for confirming things in advance.

A score is only a map of where a pair tends to collide. Know the spot and set one order, as Doyun and Seoa did, and the same scene starts to leave a different record.
